With the rapid spread of football in India in recent years, the packed seasons have become both physically and psychologically demanding for the players. Moreover, since most players haven’t had much time for training since the imposition of lockdowns the world over owing to the coronavirus, getting everyone in shape for India’s top-tier competition, and making sure that there are as less injuries as possible, will be the major challenges for the physiotherapists associated with all teams. Though the job has never been and will never be easy, we have full faith in our Head Physio and Recovery Coach, Michael Harding, who has already put in a lot of work behind the players in the weeks leading up to the Hero Indian Super League. Harding served as the first team physio for the Newcastle United Football Club for fourteen long years—from 2006 to 2020—and is a perfect candidate for this job.
