A young central midfielder, Sourav Das joined SC East Bengal from Mumbai City FC during the 2021 January transfer window. Das spent his youth years at the TATA Football Academy before joining Mohun Bagan in 2016. He stayed at the green-and-maroon camp for three seasons, helping them win the Calcutta Football League in 2018/19. He also made 11 appearances for the club in the Hero I-League.


21-year old defensive midfielder Ajay Chhetri has joined SC East Bengal on loan from Bengaluru FC. The Manipur-born footballer joined the Bengaluru FC academy back in 2016 before being called up to the senior team during the 2018-19 season. Coming through the ranks with Bengaluru FC B, Chhetri was part of the team that won the Bangalore Super Division two times in a row. He also represented BFC at the Durand Cup in 2019. Chhetri made his Hero ISL debut against Chennaiyin FC during BFC's title-winning campaign in 2018-19. He also had a brief loan spell at Hyderabad FC last season.


After spending his early years in the youth systems of the Tata Football Academy and East Bengal, this midfielder played for a number of Hero I-League and Hero Indian Super League sides like the AIFF’s development team, Shillong Lajong, North East United FC, DSK Shivajians, the erstwhile Delhi Dynamos FC, Kerala Blasters FC and Mumbai City FC, before joining SC East Bengal.


Haobam is a seventeen-year-old midfielder who’ll don SC East Bengal’s iconic Red-and-Gold colours in the upcoming season.


Another player hailing from Manipur in the SC East Bengal squad for 2020-21, defensive midfielder Wahengbam Angousana has joined the Red-and-Gold brigade from TRAU FC, whom he represented for three seasons between 2017 and 2020.


Mohammed Rafique delivered some of his career’s best performances while playing for our club between 2014 and 2018. He spent his youth years at Tollygunge Agragami and made his senior professional debut for the United Sports Club in 2010. Whilst at United Sports, he played fearless football whenever he came up against the Kolkata giants, producing many memorable performances, and in 2014, he signed up for us. Rafique is also well acquainted with the ways of the Hero Indian Super League, having represented the erstwhile ATK FC, Kerala Blasters FC and Mumbai City FC so far.


Midfielder Loken Meitei has joined SC East Bengal from TRAU FC. He started his youth career at Royal Wahingdoh in 2012 and later went on to play for Royal Wahingdoh’s senior side, Real Kashmir FC and Kerala Blasters FC.


Our Welsh recruit Aaron Amadi-Holloway is well acquainted with Head Coach Robbie Fowler’s managerial style, having played under the latter at Brisbane Roar FC in the 2019-20 A-League. Having graduated from the youth system of Cardiff City, Amadi-Holloway has represented Bristol City, Bath City, Newport County, Wycombe Wanderers FC, Oldham Athletic, Fleetwood Town, Shrewsbury Town and Brisbane Roar FC in his nine-year-long professional career so far.


When Bikash Jairu donned the Red-and-Gold colours during his first stint at our club between 2015 and 2017, he made heads turn with his speed and agility, qualities that players hailing from Northeast India are naturally endowed with. Born in Gyalshing, West Sikkim, Jairu earned his first professional contract with ONGC in 2008. He made his Hero I-League debut for Salgaocar FC in January 2014, and the following year, he earned a contract with East Bengal. He made headlines when he produced a stellar display against Mohun Bagan in the first Kolkata derby of the 2015-16 edition of the Hero I-League, a match that ended in a 1-1 draw. Jairu had been a regular feature in the Jamshedpur FC team during his three-year-stint (2017-20) there.


Born in Manipur, Surchandra Singh is a midfielder who has previously played for DSK Shivajians, Churchill Brothers, Mohun Bagan, Real Kashmir and Mumbai City FC. This will be first time that he will be donning the iconic Red-and-Gold shirt.


Irish midfielder Anthony Pilkington spent his formative years in the youth systems of Preston North End, Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers. At the senior level, some of the notable English clubs he has hitherto played for include Blackburn Rovers, Norwich City, Cardiff City and Wigan Athletic. He has also made nine appearances for the Republic of Ireland. Not only good at building attacks, Pilkington is also capable of finding the back of the net, as his goals against Manchester City and Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United would testify.


Our Congolese recruit Jacques Maghoma has so far played all his football in England, having started off his professional career with Tottenham Hotspur in 2008. The attacking midfielder later went on to play for Burton Albion, Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham City, before signing up for SC East Bengal for the 2020-21 season. A product of Tottenham's youth academy, Maghoma was named Birmingham City's 'Player of the Year' and 'Players' Player of the Year' in 2017-18.


The German midfielder has joined SC East Bengal this season from the A-League team Wellington Phoenix FC. He graduated from Hamburger SV’s youth academy and made his Bundesliga debut for Hamburger SV’s senior team against Bayern Munich in 2014. He also plied his trade for the Danish Super League club Vendsyssel Forenede Fodboldklubber in 2019. Steinmann has also represented Germany at various youth levels.


Like some of his SC East Bengal teammates, the 2020-21 season marks the homecoming for Sehnaj Singh. The central defensive midfielder was previously part of our squad in 2016. He burst on to the scene while playing for the AIFFs development team in 2011 and in the 2014-15 season, he was part of the Mohun Bagan team that won the Hero I-League and the Hero Federation Cup. In the Hero Indian Super League, he was signed by the erstwhile Delhi Dynamos FC in 2015 and from 2016 to 2019, he was a regular in the Mumbai City FC set-up. Sehnaj made eight appearances for the erstwhile ATK FC in their 2019-20 Hero Indian Super League-winning campaign. He has also represented the national team on five occasions so far.


The twenty-one-year-old midfielder made his professional debut for his home state club NEROCA FC in 2017-18 and moved to the reserve side of the erstwhile ATK FC the following season. Yumnam will once again have a shot at making his Hero Indian Super League debut and SC East Bengal gives him a fantastic platform to get noticed.
